In 2010 the Department of World Economy together with Department of Economic Cybernetics, Faculty of Economics, St. Petersburg State University, has become the only Russian institution awarded the status of WTO Chair. The Department of World Economy presents a wide range of educational programmes of Bachelor's, Specialist's, Master's and PhD degrees. It delivers research projects in various aspects of international economic relations.

The Department collaborates actively with leading educational and research centres. That results in the development of the new Masters’ programme “International trading system”. The Department also presents a short-term seminar “Commercial Diplomacy” and International Summer School in Russian Business.
